A little about me: I became licensed in October 2005, and started this group after i failed the exam by 1 point three months earlier. I did not know anyone in my area who was in the exam process and felt very alone. It has been my mission to make a safe place for others. I wrote an article that was published in the April 2006 CAMFT about how my "Fail" was thrown out after they found problems with the test and they gave me a PASS. At that point, I already had over 100 members - so I could not stop there! There are currently over 250 people in the group. It is named Clinical Vignette Study, but people are studying for both the written and clinical vignette, and several people still in graduate school.
If you have any other questions, concerns, or ideas for this group please contact me. zynny@yahoo.com

As school neared completion and I was beginning to look for Practicum sites, and now Intern sites, I discovered how overwhelming the process could be and how little direction I had. While the process can be difficult at times, there are many resources out there to answer questions and help in your search. Depending upon flexibility, there are quite a few jobs open. It just depends if you can work for free or if you need to be paid. Below I have listed a few sites that I have found helpful.
- California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists www.camft.org
- American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists www.aamft.org
- The San Diego Union Tribune www.signonsandiego.com.
This service will list a variety of jobs; keep in mind
the broader you make your search, the more job options you
will be given. Be sure to look under Social Services.
- Craig's List is another great source for information and postings.
Dependent upon the “market” you wish to work in, there are quite
a few postings. Many are with SED children and in non-profit.
www.sandiego.craigslist.org
- Career Builder is another source that allows you to type “keywords”
and based upon that search criteria will send you job postings continually.
www.careerbuilder.com
- Any questions regarding intern hours, regulations of hours, your own therapy
(remember every 1 hour of your own therapy can be counted as 3), forms, etc.
The BBS will answer all questions that may arise www.bbs.ca.gov.
- Be on the lookout for social events within the chapter for interns. These
are a great way to network and get out in the community. Coming April 5th, we have
a Social Get-together in Del Mar as well as the Intern Networking Event on the 14th of
April.
Any ideas or suggestions for Interns, tips you find helpful, questions you would like
discussed, please feel free to email me at intern@sdnccamft.com |
