Evidence-Based Skills: The Five A’s or Core Skills

Friday November 21, 2014
9:00am - 11:00am

Evidence-Based Skills: 5 A’s
This presentation will help you understand what evidence-based practice (EBP) is and how it can enhance your clinical effectiveness.  You will learn the five important skills  (the Five A’s) for implementing evidence-based practice into your clinical work.  The presentation will also address potential challenges you may encounter when doing evidence-based practices, and how you may overcome them.

Lee Williams, Ph.D., LMFT, a clinician and full professor at the University of San Diego’s Marital and Family Program has co-authored a book released recently from Guilford Press, Clinician’s Guide to Research Methods in Family Therapy.  His primary clinical and research interests are in the area of family therapy training, couples therapy, premarital counseling, and religious differences among couples.  He will provide us with a systemic framework for using research to guide the selection and evaluation of interventions that meet the needs of particular clients.
